Surface drainage systems use a clever setup consisting of a perforated pipe placed in a trench and covered with gravel. This pipe, typically made of PVC and equipped with weep holes, acts as a water redirector. By catching and channeling water away from your house, it helps prevent any potential damage.
Interior drain tile systems begins by removing a portion of the basement floor, creating space for a trench. A perforated pipe is then carefully placed on top of the footing and covered with washed gravel. Once everything is in position, the concrete is restored. This system effectively captures water that might enter between the basement floor and the wall, directing it to a sump pump for removal from the property.
Exterior drain tile systems are essentially the same as an interior system, but located on the outside of the foundation wall. Installing an exterior drainage system at an existing building is typically the most costly, but also the most effective water control approach.
